Welcome to Kindergarten!
Dear Families and Friends,
Welcome to Kindergarten! , I am THRILLED to be your teacher!! It’s going to be a fun year filled with lots of learning, and new adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.
I know my teaching must begin with making children feel at home in the classroom and helping all the children come together into a learning community. This community is made up of unique individuals, each with his or her own learning style, interests, history, hopes, and dreams.
We will learn many exciting things in kindergarten! We’ll be learning about the following themes:
· Day and Night
· Gingerbread Boy
· Happy Healthy Me
In Math we will be following the Investigations Curriculum, and learning about patterns, mathematical thinking, collecting counting and measuring, exploring data, shapes and building blocks, and counting and the number system.
I have given each of you a Home/School Communicator which your child should bring home and back to school every day. If you have any notes for me or the office, or anything to give me, please put it in this daily communicator. Any important information I have for you, I will send home in this communicator (folder). Please look daily in your child’s school bag for this Home/School Communicator. On Wednesday, red totes will be sent home school wide. Please check these, and return as soon as possible.
Please send your child to school with a healthy snack and a cool drink (a bag lunch and a cool drink if needed)! We’ll have snack time every morning . School lunch is available for purchase every day, even on the first day of school.
Please send in a set of extra clothes for your child. Your child will keep these clothes in their cubbies.
